He walks slowly
this man now expendable
and without use to many.
He came to rise in much glory
but only to fall,
into impotent silence,
and despair.
He is looked upon
by himself and his peers
as a disappointment,
and, as a definition of failing
while climbing too high.
As Icarus ascended
on wings of waxen beauty
to heights unseen and dizzying;
he cracked and lost,
hard and crumbled,
tumbled to the ground
and into hell….
